Therapy Services
Working with all ages, our therapist can support the entire family. Feldenkrais, Feeding therapy, Myofunctional Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy techniques & other forms of bodywork can be beneficial to anyone with feeding difficulties, body tension, or movement and coordination issues. Early intervention is key to resolving issues as quickly as possible.
Myofunctional Therapy
Myofunctional therapy (MFT) is a type of treatment that focuses on how the tongue and muscles of the mouth and face work and function. MFT uses targeted exercises to treat disorders such as nasal obstruction and sleep-disordered breathing, swallowing disorders, chewing difficulties, speech issues, jaw pain, dental problems, craniofacial growth concerns, picky eating and more. MFT works to help teach the muscles, nerves and brain to function optimally. Myofunctional therapy is typically used for individuals four and older.
Oral Motor Therapy
Feeding and oral motor therapy is very similar to myofunctional therapy but designed for babies and toddlers to get to functional feeding. This treatment is used to assist with mobility, strength and coordination of the tongue, lips, palate, and jaw as well as integration of feeding reflexes. OMT can assist with breastfeeding or bottle feeding difficulties, swallowing disorders, weak muscles of the mouth and face, work to reduce gagging, and more.
Feeding Therapy
Feeding therapy is designed for older children who are struggling with solid foods to help make mealtime more enjoyable for the whole family. Whether it be texture issues, picky eating, integrating new foods, airway protection or more. Our occupational therapist will help you and your child feel confident adding new foods and textures into their daily routine.
Feldenkrais Method® Integration
The Feldenkrais Method is a somatic education technique that uses gentle movement and verbal and hands-on guidance to help people improve their awareness of their bodies and develop new ways of moving. Feldenkrais assists individuals to develop new movement patterns that over-ride engrained motor habits. It is based on principles of physics, biomechanics, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, noninvasive treatment that uses touch to improve the function of the body’s cranial system. CST involves light pressure to release tension in the fascia or the body's connective tissue network. This can help restore balance to the nervous system and improve the movement of cerebrospinal fluid.
Bodywork
Bodywork can be performed on infants through adults. Our therapist uses a variety of neuromotor and manual therapy techniques to reduce body tension by addressing movement, sensory, and overall function at the core of the nervous system. Methods can include Feldenkrais Integration, Craniosacral Therapy Techniques, Reflex Integration, Reflexology and more. Techniques are gentle yet effective to get to the root of the problem and support the whole body.
